This course addresses emerging regulatory and liability issues related to artificial intelligence. The relationship between technology and humans has become less readily identifiable, which raises significant legal issues that have not been resolved. Yet, such issues are important to examine because advances in technology have led to major changes in transportation, manufacturing, medicine, and other sectors. This course provides an overview of the landscape of AI regulatory regimes in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and other selected jurisdictions to explore how different states have approached the issue and their readiness and ability to adapt to change. It also covers intellectual property, criminal liability, civil liability, insurance, privacy, cybersecurity, and discrimination issues that may arise with the development and increasing adoption of artificial intelligence technology.
